The new spiritual leader of the Bohra community, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, arrived in Karachi from Mumbai on a day-long visit on Thursday morning.

This was his first foreign visit after the death of Bohra community’s spiritual leader, Syedna Burhanuddin, last month. Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin was warmly received at the Karachi Airport by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Commissioner Shoaib Siddiqui, former federal minister Halim Siddiqi, Bohra community’s leader in Karachi, Nooruddin Bhai, and a large number of the community members.

He was received under state protocol from the airport to the Tahiri Mosque in Saddar, where thousands of Bohra followers warmly welcomed their spiritual leader. The government had made strict security arrangements for him.

In the evening, Saifuddin was seen off by Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan at the Karachi Airport. A large number of Bohra community members were present at the airport to see him off. Earlier, the Sindh governor held a meeting with Syedna Saifuddin in the VVIP lounge of the airport. In the meeting, the members of the community told their spiritual leader about the exemplary role of Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad as the Sindh governor in Karachi and the rest of the province. They praised Dr Ishratul Ebad’s efforts for restoring law and order and development activities. He said the governor resolved every problem of the Bohra community on priority basis.

Saifuddin thanked the governor and said Islam preaches love. He stressed the need to work jointly with this spirit. He said he was pleased to visit Karachi, as Pakistan, especially Karachi, was a very beautiful city. The spiritual leader told the governor that he came to Pakistan on a short visit because he had to go Karbala as well. The governor requested him to offer special prayers for Pakistan’s stability in Karbala. He also extended him an invitation to pay a visit to the Governor’s House on his next tour to Pakistan. Syedna Saifuddin accepted the invitation.

Later, Syedna Saifuddin presented chaddar and tasbih to the Sindh governor. The governor also presented him province’s souvenirs. The spiritual leader said the souvenir and other gifts had made his visit memorable.
