Polio is still after you

One more polio case reported in NWA: Number reaches 22

Another case of polio surfaced in North Waziristan region of the country, taking the total number of such cases this year to 22.

According to media reports the National Health Institute informed that a polio virus was found in one-and-a-half year old girl, Aaina Gul, resident of Miranshah Tehsil, North Waziristan.

Polio drops could not be administered to affected children in violence-prone regions of the country. Nineteen of the total 22 reported cases belong to FATA, while three from Khyber Pakhtonkhwa.

Of the 19 cases from FATA, 12 are reported from Miranshah Tehsil while six from Mir Ali.

Outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan had banned administering of polio drops in North Waziristan and South Waziristan in July 2012 and resultantly over 2,60,000 children could not be vaccinated against polio so far.
