Nisar addresses NA on national security policy

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan addressed the National Assembly on Wednesday and announced a major policy shift of responding to militants conducting attacks in the county with military action.

Khan, speaking in the NA session for a formal announcement of the national internal security policy (NISP) for 2013-2018, said that the government has consulted all major political forces for formation of the policy and all agreed upon it unanimously.

He said that the policy would be implemented gradually and its effectiveness will be reviewed during the next six months.
The policy comprised of three parts, one of which was secret, he added.

He urged the NA members and political parties to build a consensus over the issue of terrorism and avoid scoring points over the issue that has put the country’s existence at stake.

He also stressed the political forces for assisting the government in resolving the complicate issue and build a single opinion on terrorism.

Khan further said that the every statement of TTP should not be given space and importance in political and media circles.

Khan also thanked Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for assisting the government in policy formation, adding that no other party assisted in this regard.
