Punjab Minister for Population Begum Zakia Shahnawaz has said that a long-term policy has been devised to control rapid growth of population in the province.
Addressing a meeting on Wednesday, she said birth ratio had been increased alarmingly during the last two decades and if this pace of birth rate continued, the country might experience food dearth in years to come.
She said to discourage speedy population expansion, 4,000 health centres are being established in the Punjab. She said the PML-N government would take all possible measures to control the increasing population.
She said a huge allocation in the budget had been made for controlling growth rate of population.
