Peace talks favoured despite of war: Prof. Ibrahim

Member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) appointed intermediary committee, Professor Ibrahim Khan on Tuesday said that despite of the ongoing war between TTP and government, peace talks were still favoured, private news channel reported.

Khan, who is also a leader of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), said that efforts were going on to resume peace efforts through an informal contact with the government appointed negotiators.

He also hinted over a possibility of a meeting between the two committees in the coming days.

The JI leader added that TTP has not yet communicated its stance over the military operation.

He asserted that peace talks should be resumed, appealing to TTP and government for an end to violence and resumption of dialogue.

Also on Tuesday, Rahimullah Yusufzai, member of the government team said that peace talks could be recommenced if TTP agrees to an unconditional ceasefire.
