Nisar’s match invite to TTP insulting to nation, Pak forces: PPP parliamentarians

ISLAMABAD-

Parliamentarians from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Tuesday submitted an adjournment motion in the National Assembly Secretariat over the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan’s invitation to militant Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) for a cricket match.

PPP’s MPs Imran Legahri, Shazia Marri, Ijaz Jhakrani, Kamal Khan and Abdul Sattar Bachani submitted the motion that declared that Khan’s statement came at a very sensitive time and was tantamount to insulting the people and security forces of Pakistan.

On Monday, the minister had invited TTP to play a cricket match.

“I have information that the Taliban keep an interest in cricket. So if this message can go through to them, we can have a cricket match with them which can have a better result,” the minister told media reporters in Islamabad.

TTP spokesperson Shahidullah Shahid had rejected the invitation, saying that the sport was tuning the youth away from ‘jihad’.
