ISLAMABAD-

A federal cabinet meeting was underway on Tuesday to review and ratify the national internal security policy in Islamabad, a private news channel reported.

The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, was reported to involve ministers in a consultation over the policy of internal defence and negotiations with the militant Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar will table the five-year National Internal Security Policy before the cabinet for approval.

Khan will be taking the ministers into confidence over the ongoing situation in context of the peace talks and military operations.

The internal national security policy, once ratified, will involve formation of a joint intelligence directorate to make the exchange of information more effective on federal and provincial levels, the news channel report added.
