The PPP leadership’s move to bring back veteran politician Abida Hussain in party fold has failed this time despite all the efforts.
Following instructions from PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Punjab PPP President Manzoor Wattoo met Abida at her residence amid rumours that she was joining the ruling PML-N.
Wattoo conveyed Bilawal’s desire and invited her to play an assertive role in the party. However, Abida has declined to become an active PPP member.
She said she was working on her book and right now not interested in politics. “I have quit active politics,” Abida told Pakistan Today.
Her husband Fakhar Imam joined the PML-N during the last elections but Abida did not take part in the elections. Her daughter Sughra Imam is a PPP senator. She was also part of the meeting.
According to PPP sources, Abida said she would be available whenever Bilawal would call her.
However, Abida told Pakistan Today that she would not be part of any party meeting or politics in the future.
