An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday exempted former president Pervez Musharraf from appearing in court for the hearing of the judges’ detention case.
ATC Judge Attiqur Rehman took up for hearing the former president’s application.
During the hearing, the former president’s counsel Ilyas Siddiqui requested the court to grant his client exemption from appearing in the court, which was accepted.
The court inquired about Musharraf’s medical report. Siddiqui said that the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) was not providing them with the medical reports of the former president and added that the court may seek it on its own.
The judge said the court would not issue such an order. “You should present the medical report on next hearing,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, public prosecutor Nadeem Tabish said neither Musharraf nor his guarantors were appearing in the court. He requested the court to decide the matter on merit during the next hearing.
The case is based on an FIR against the former president registered in August 11, 2009 on the complaint of Aslam Ghumman. He had asked the police to initiate legal proceedings against Musharraf for detaining over 60 judges, including former chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, after proclamation of emergency on November 3, 2007.
The court adjourned the hearing until March 7.

  1. The Government has already prioritized the 3Es by focusing on energy, economy and education. Various mega-projects have been initiated in the ENERGY sector and loadshedding has been significantly reduced, though the Pakistanis haven't forgotten the nightmare of upto 22 hours loadshedding till last year. Pakistan is in the advanced stage of generating electricity through alternate sources including coal, nuclear & wind energy.

The ECONOMY has started showing signs of improvement and the latest SBP Report is a testament to this fact. FDI is coming in large volume and the stock market is scaling new heights.

Similarly, reforms are being introduced in the EDUCATION sector. The modern IT-literacy level is increasing fast, especially after the distribution of free laptops among a large number of meritorious students. Pakistan is becoming an emerging place for e-marketing, as declared by Facebook. The government is moving fast towards the goal of universal primary education.

Above all, the government is crushing the terrorism from the front and we have recently seen a large number of forceful strikes, never witnessed in the past, to crush the TTP leadership and annihilate the terrorists.

Before initiating the proceedings under article-6, Musharraf was given a last chance to flee. But the arrogant Musharraf has again been misled by his cronies, mostly those having obtained huge benefits during Musharraf dictatorship and are also known as "Al Faeda Group". With each passing day Musharraf is approaching closer to justice now.

It is upto the independent judiciary to decide the high treason accused-Musharraf's fate.
