ISLAMABAD
US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director John Brennan met with Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lt Gen Zaheerul Islam and discussed the latest security situation along the Pakistan-Afghan border.
Sources said that it was routine visit to the region by the CIA chief whereas he also held a courtesy call on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, before flying back on Sunday.
The CIA boss was sent to the region by US President Obama to get the latest security assessment of the region and also to seek cooperation from his counterpart spy agency to increase the sharing of secret information and tracing of kidnapped US soldier, Bowe Bergdahl.
Moreover sources added that the possibility of sealing Pak-Afghan border to stop cross border movement of Taliban militants was also discussed during the meeting.
Sources said Pakistan asked the CIA chief to help the country in destroying militant sanctuaries located in Afghanistan, from where the Pakistani Taliban launch their attacks against Pakistan.
