Ch Nisar wants a cricket match with Taliban

ISLAMABAD –

Federal Interior Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chaudhry Nisar has said that reports say many Taliban members are interested in playing cricket. He said this while playing an exhibition match in Islamabad on Monday.

He asked, wont it be better if we have a decision in cricket stadium than in battlefield.

He further said there should be a friendly match between government and Taliban, adding that such a cricket match will draw fruitful results.

He said Taliban watches Pakistan’s cricket matches with great interest.

Our enemies want to defame country and in their malicious intent are hell bent in proving Pakistan a terrorist country, he added.

He added saying that we need enthusiasm and zeal to strengthen our country.

On answering a question he said, cricket is a game of friendship, brotherhood and peace and politics in it will ruin the sport. We will constitute a strategy to distant politics from cricket.

He stressed that the players should play with an aim to project a positive image of the country.

On this occasion, he thanked Australian High Commissioner in Islamabad, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi.

However, he avoided answering a question about Taliban commander Asmatullah Shaheen Bhittani killing.
