10 people were killed and several other were injured in an explosion on Sunday in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a private news channel reported.
According to Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police, Nasir Khan Durrani, the blast took place near a passenger vehicle at Peshawar chowk on Hangu road.
Rescue workers and police rushed to the site.
Durrani added that the blast appeared to have been carried out using a planted device.
Initial reports say that 5 kilograms of explosive material were planted in a wooden crate by the road. As a passenger wagon passed by, the explosives went off.
Three people were killed on the spot while many wagon passengers and a rickshaw driver were injured.
The victims were shifted to a nearby hospital while the area was cordoned off for investigations.
Medical sources were quoted saying the casualty toll rose up to 10 with seven wounded persons succumbing to their injuries.
