Senate body on Environmental Degradation meets today
A meeting of the Sub-Committee of the Functional Committee on Human Rights headed by its convener Senator, Mushahid Hussain Sayed will be held in the Parliament House on Monday.
The meeting will discuss climate change and clean and green Islamabad campaign particularly the issue of plastic bags, compliance report by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) regarding removal of stone crushers from MargaIla Hills as per order of the Supreme Court and directive of the Senate Sub-Committee on Environment, review of working of Environment Hotline 1334, complaints received and actions taken, future progress on commitment made regarding waste disposal management site.
The committee members will be briefed regarding Reducing Emission from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDO), UN-supported projects to curb deforestation in Pakistan and Action Plan of the Islamabad Traffic Police to curb the smoke emission vehicle in the Federal Capital.
Likewise it is very interesting that some cases acquired great hype only to be forgotten afterwards. There was also unique example when SC registrar was asked to keep public funds and invest them. As if he was a super investor.
