Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has termed reports of presence of Taliban in Karachi as baseless.
Talking to media at the Sukkur airport, the chief minister said it was federal government’s prerogative to either launch operation or go for dialogue with terrorists.
He said currently an acting inspector general police was working in Sindh, adding a senior officer would be deputed at the post. He reiterated that police and Rangers were taking strong action against criminals. He said there was no truth in reports of Taliban presence in Karachi.
It may be noted that Sukkur and Khairpur Highway remained close for traffic for three hours due to arrival of chief minister. Thousands of vehicles heading to Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan were stuck in traffic.
