Traders strike over their fellows’ murders

Traders in Purana Qilla area of Rawalpindi staged protest and complete strike was observed on Saturday against killing of three traders.

According to details, traders and shopkeepers staged a strike on Saturday and demanded the authorities to arrest culprits of traders’ killings.

Traders said they were feeling insecure after Friday incident and demanded police to provide security to business community in Rawalpindi.

Three shopkeepers were killed on Friday evening, three others wounded critically when five gunmen, riding two bikes, opened fire at shops—Dubai Chadar House and Ali Chadar House—at Purana Qilla, near Jamia Masjid Hanfia.

The police said that 9mm and 30-bore pistols were used in the target killings of Muhammad Ramzan Qureshi, owner of Ali Chadar House, and Muhammad Tufail. Three other people, namely Sheikh Nasir Javed, owner of Dubai Chadar House, Umer Ali and Kashif got injured. Sheikh Nasir Javed succumbed to his injuries at 9:30pm in DistrictHeadquartersHospital. The police haven’t yet arrested any of the attackers.
