Making a fervent appeal to the government and Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) for a ceasefire, leader of Taliban’s dialogue committee Maulana Samiul Haq has said that everyone should work to save the country from destruction and violence.

“I appeal the government and the TTP in the name of Allah and His Holy Prophet (PBUH) to announce a ceasefire,” he said while speaking at the prize distribution ceremony at Aiwan-e-Shariat of Darul Uloom Haqqania on Saturday.

Haq said the issue of conflict is not the Constitution of Pakistan but Pakistan’s standing shoulder to shoulder with the anti-Islamic forces such as the USA.

He asked the government to stop bombing the unarmed civilians warning that such acts will not resolve the issues but further aggravate them and cause more destruction. He said anti-Islamic forces in the West, liberal and secular Muslim scholars, officials and politicians were expressing their hatred towards Islam under the guise of Talibanisation.

Maulana Samiul Haq said the enemies of Islam were not worried about generals of the army, leaders or the so-called “elected institutions” because they go hand in hand with the anti-Islamic forces, but, he said, the west was afraid of the religious institutions and their curricula. He said the religious institutions are not spreading terrorism and extremism but spreading the Islamic education of peace and tolerance.

He was of the opinion that if the government gave up following the policies of major powers and started dialogues with the militants with all trueness of intention, all the acts of terrorism would come to an end, adding that the solution of the problem lied only in stepping back from the war on terror, and the Parliament’s resolutions were clear guidance in this connection.
