MQM shows solidarity with army today: Altaf

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has announced to take out a rally to express solidarity with the Pakistan’s armed forces on Sunday.

Addressing party workers via telephone, MQM chief Altaf Hussain said the army and the people were united against terrorism. He urged the people to attend the rally in large numbers to make it a historic event and prove that they stood by the country’s armed force and other law enforcement agencies fighting the Taliban militants. The rally will be held on Karachi’s Shahrah-e-Quaideen at 3 pm in the afternoon.

Speaking to members of the rabita committee, Altaf Hussain said the public and the army shared a united stance against terrorism. Meanwhile, party members, along with the MQM leadership, supported the crackdowns against terrorists. Speaking at a dinner party, MQM member Babar Ghouri said the political leadership of the country had mandated the federal government to restore peace in the country during the All Parties Conference (APC) meeting and not to hold peace talks with the Taliban. Senator Babar Ghauri said negotiations with the Taliban were a sheer wastage of time. The Muttahida leader was of the view that the citizens of Karachi would turn out to be an iron wall against the terrorists.
