ISLAMABAD-
Ahmed Raza Kasuri , counsel of former President Pervez Musharraf, said that the verdict of the special court rejecting the plea to hold his client’s treason trial in a military court was wrong and devoid of facts.
Kasuri refused to accept the verdict of the special court that ruled to try the former president itself.
“This decision to try Musharraf in a civilian court is factually wrong. The facts have been twisted,” said the counsel.
He further said that an army act was applicable on his client’s case as he had imposed emergency as the army chief on November 3, 2007.
Kasuri alleged that Musharraf’s case was being hyped and an issue was being made out of it to worsen the situation.
He added that it was not Musharraf who abrogated the constitution by imposition of emergency but it was former chief justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudary who abrogated it by sending 106 judges packing home.
Kasuri said that an appeal would be filed against the verdict of special court.
