Seminar on fundamentals of intellectual property held at Bahria

An international seminar was held to create awareness among academicians, researchers and students about the laws of Intellectual Property Rights and its implementation in our country at BahriaUniversity.

The seminar on Fundamentals of Intellectual Property was organised by BahriaUniversity with collaboration of Higher Education Commission (HEC).

Addressing the audience, HEC R&D Advisor Dr Tariq Mehmood threw light on the research, innovation and commercialisation in educational institutes. He said that HEC has started to provide research training to all universities and established ORIC Offices in many universities of Pakistan.

Campus of Bahria University Pro-Rector Rear Admiral Saleem Akhtar said in his welcoming address that BahriaUniversity has established business incubation centres at Karachi and Islamabad campuses to procreate space for young and prospective entrepreneurs with limitable business ideas and strong commercialise-able aspect.

On this occasion, different guest speakers were invited in which speakers Morrison C England, United States District Judge, Ms Kalpanna Reddy, First Secretary of Intellectual property (USPTO), Saad Amanullah Khan, Chairman IPR Committee and Joe Yang, Attorney-Advisor, Commercial Law Development Program, United States Department of Commerce shared their valuable ideas and highlighted legal and basic issues about trademark and ownership of copyrights.

They also talked about the comparison of Pakistan with other developing countries, to focus upon economic impact and financial benefit for the country.

Faculty members and students of various other universities also participated in the event and appreciated the BU efforts in hosting this event. At the end, a souvenir of BU was given to the chief guest and some gifts to the guests speakers of the seminar.
