United States Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson called on Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar on Wednesday.
Issues pertaining to bilateral relations particularly security situation in the region came under discussion during the meeting.
The minister said that Pakistan enjoyed good relations with the US spread over all sectors and is hopeful that they will be further strengthened.
He emphasized the need for greater transparency in the relationship and said it is important that people of Pakistan see for themselves that the interests of Pakistan are being protected and safeguarded at every step.
The ambassador said that Pakistan has an important role to play in the post-2014 scenario in the region which is recognized by the international community.
Olson assured the minister for interior that the US is not only conscious of Pakistan’s concerns but will do everything possible to address them.
He emphasized the need for close US-Pak rapport and liaison to meet the emerging challenges for the region.
Sources said that Olson also sought Pakistan’s support in tracing American soldier Bowe Bergdahl who is reportedly being held by the Afghan Taliban in North Waziristan.
