ISLAMABAD-

Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Nabil Gabol on Wednesday called for imposition of emergency in the country, a private news channel reported.

He was speaking at a meeting of National Assembly’s Standing Committee presided over by Rana Shamim.
Gabol demanded that a state of emergency should be imposed under Article 232 of the Constitution for peace in the country, adding that dialogue should not be held with Taliban “who are sending bodies in return.”

Gabol also attempted to present a resolution seeking end to negotiations with outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), but refrained from tabling it on receinving severe criticism from other committee members belonging to Pakistan People’s Party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Jamiat Ulmae Islam-Fazl.

Also in the meeting, a resolution was unanimously approved by the committee in condemnation of attacks on two media houses in Karachi, killing of 23 FC soldiers at hands of TTP and death of 13 police commandos in last week’s bomb attack.
