US Central Command Chief General Lloyd J Austin called on Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Rashad Mahmood and Chief of Army Staff Raheel Sharif separately on Wednesday.
General Austin arrived here on Wednesday to discuss security situation of the region and drawdown of foreign troops from Afghanistan with the Pakistani military leadership.
According to ISPR, the US general discussed with General Mahmood matters related to regional security situation with special emphasis on Afghanistan and bilateral ties between the two armies. The CJCSC briefed Gen Austin about Pakistan’s viewpoint over the situation in Afghanistan.
Later, Gen Austin also called on Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif at the General Headquarters. He remained with him for some time. During the meeting, the two discussed matters of bilateral professional interest.
