Peace talks will end if ceasefire not announced in week: Rasheed

Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said that there would be no peace talks if ceasefire was not announced in a week.

Rasheed was expressing his views on current political situation of the country. “Things will be clear after March,” he said when he was asked about the future of the peace talks. He said that the process of peace talks would not last longer.

“Now the forces will do what Taliban had been doing,” he asserted.

The AML leader termed law and order as the key issue of the country and it must be addressed properly. He criticised the committee constituted by the government for peace talks with Taliban, adding it was a media committee of the journalists and columnists and it was not capable enough of bringing the desired results.

Rasheed said that a huge incident would take place in Islamabad soon. He also expressed concern over the attacks on the forces in Karachi.

Answering a question regarding former president Pervez Musharraf, he said that the army would take decision about him and his future.

Rasheed said that the people would take to the streets if they were not given rights and the situation would be very tough for the government. He said that Karachi would witness worse condition as MQM and religious parties would clash in coming days.
