Armed forces always ready to act against terrorists: Defence Sect

Defence Secretary lieutenant general (R) Asif Yasin Malik said on Tuesday that Pakistan Army is ready to take action against terrorists wherever necessary.

Talking to reporters after attending meeting of National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Defence, Malik said that there is significant presence of troops in the North Waziristan– where militants of the outlawed Tahrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) are hiding.

“TTP has hideouts not only in North Waziristan but across the border in Afghanistan as well,” he said.

Malik said national security is of utmost importance and the armed forces are ready to take action against the terrorists.

In response to a question regarding FC men’s beheading in Mohmand Agency, which has been declared clear by the security forces, the defence secretary revealed that the incident had not occurred in Mohmand but in Afghan province of Kunhar.

Earlier, fateha was offered for the martyred soldiers of the FC during the proceedings of the meeting of the NA standing committee.
