LONDON –
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) pilot Tariq Ranjha put the lives of 70 passengers at stake on Sunday as he landed the aircraft at LondonHeathrowAirport in London despite bring refused by the control tower.
According to sources, the control tower denied the request of landing the aircraft in the city due to the weather conditions. However, Ranjha kept insisting on landing the aircraft in London as the medical condition of a passenger, named Qasim Abu Bakar, was deteriorating.
He kept flying the aircraft in the skies of London despite the bad weather and also wasted fuel worth of millions. The control tower kept sending the message to the PIA pilot to divert the aircraft towards Manchester and Leeds.
However, the pilot’s request was finally accepted after an hour and was allowed to land the plane in the rough conditions.
After the landing, the aircraft was searched for 40 minutes by London Metropolitan Police and the passengers were finally allowed to leave the plane after being cleared.
Britain’s Civil Aviation has warned PIA to hold a proper investigation against the pilot of the fact that why he landed the aircraft despite the rough conditions. They added that the medical care could have been provided in Manchester and Leeds if the pilot landed the plane there.
anyway we are winding up this pure white elephant in near future, to some connected PML
Stop being the MQM PR Dept.
It shows the PIA pilot is extra ordinary competent & caring for humanity, UK must realize the priority of a human over million worth fuel & should appreciate competency of pilot as he landed safely in bad weather only b/c to save one human, its the London control tower not the pilot who put the 70 passengers in danger. because this is Pakistani otherwise they would label this pilot as a hero. i condemn this bias role of UK.
flying the plane over London for 1 hour vs a 15 min flight to Manchester… in which scenario would the passenger receive quicker medical attention?… Sounds like the pilot is using excuses to cover up his own agenda.. Maybe he had a planned dinner at the Ritz in London which he didn't want to miss…
or perhaps it was the pilot who risked the lives of 70 to 'save' 1?
if the pilot want to save one live why he did not land at nearest airport at the moment of the medical emergency?? why he wait until reach the destination plus one Hr fighting with the controller….?? I think he has other intentions…
this shows that bad condition is not the reason… seraching for 40 minutes is clear indication to some other point… why only pakistani are treated like this …
By hovering over London for an hour, the pilot was wasting precious time. Manchester or Leeds was just 15 minutes away !! The pilot should have diverted straight away in view of the emergency !!
My question is,if it was a medical emergency and they wouldn't let him land,to save one,he put the other 69 in danger, not only that,he wasted millions in fuel sine he kept flying around. The smart thing to do would have been to just go and land in Manchester and avoid all this. But lets see what happens after the investigation reveals the details.
If the airport/runway was not closed due to weather or any other reason, ATC would not refuse landing – It's pilot's discretion.
Another example of complete stupidity by PIA. If the passenger was unwell why couldn't the pilot land the plane in Manchester as directed by air traffic control? As someone pointed out earlier it would have taken him about 15-20 mins to get to Manchester, however instead he chose to fly over London for over an hour – Did he think the passenger would receive better care in London then Manchester?… This is completely unprofessional behaviour from the Pilot. When will these people learn? – if Justice is to be done (which given the state of Pakistan will probably not happen) the pilot should be suspended and banned from flying globally.
Complete stupidity…he should have diverted instead of wasting time. He shd be de-rostered immediately.
this is a example of brave pakistani zinda bad dushman ka etna dil khan k appreciate kry
Azim K and Abdul Jabbar Pirzada…
1) Read the story
2) Engage brain
3) Read the story again
4) Think why throwing accusations of bias around in this case is so stupid
Its the pilots mistake if all the above scenarios were fiesable.
He may wanted to be a hero but I do not think he should have at the expense of others. You mean to tell me, if he landed in Leeds or Manchester, the patient would not have got medical treatment. I think he is an utter idiot for putting so many lives in danger and it is not like he the sick person was not going to get treated in the other places. people do not use common sense at the best of time and it is sad that a pilot who has the lives of others would even think of putting them in harms way. I personally think he should be accountable and fined for his actions.
Bad judgment of pilot. Should have land the airplane at nearest airport rather than coming back to Heathrow!
