Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has reiterated that drone attacks are unacceptable under any circumstances.
In an interview with Turkish Radio and Television in Istanbul, Nawaz said, “We have made it clear to the Obama administration that these are not acceptable under any circumstances as this is violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
Highlighting the importance of a result-oriented peace process in Afghanistan, Nawaz said peace in Afghanistan was vital for stability in Pakistan and the region and hoped that peace process in Afghanistan would deliver positive results.
The PM said there was unanimity of views at the trilateral summit in Ankara that they all had to strengthen hands of the Afghan government.
He said the summit also agreed to ensure success of upcoming elections and a smooth transition from one government to another in Afghanistan.
To a question‚ he said Turkey has a very special place in the hearts of the people of Pakistan and it has been his endeavour to forge a greater friendship with Ankara.
“At the same time, we are also looking for more and more opportunities to get into joint partnership with Turkish business community so that they can invest in each other’s countries,” he added.
He said Pakistan needed investment in the energy sector, as it was facing acute shortage of energy including gas and electricity, adding, “We have invited the Turkish companies to come and invest in this sector of Pakistan.”
