No point of conducting peace talks with Taliban, says Khursheed Shah

Opposition Leader in National Assembly and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior member Syed Khursheed Shah has questioned the rationale of talks with Taliban.

Khursheed Shah was talking to media at Sukkur airport on Friday, where he said that the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali had earlier said that any incident of terrorism will now be deemed a bid to sabotage the process of dialogue. Shah asked whether the government still wants talks with the militants after the ongoing incidents of terrorism.

The opposition leader said that after present incidents the dialogue would not be of any benefit.

He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will have to take decision now as a leader, whether to talk with Taliban or not. He said protection of the life and property of the people is the foremost responsibility of the government.

The government holding talks with Taliban but doesn’t contact with the wellwishers of the country, he observed.

Government is running after Taliban for peace talks but the recent attacks show that clearly indicate their state of mind, he stressed.
