Meeting between Taliban and the government negotiating committees which was scheduled for Wednesday was postponed until Thursday.
Talking to reporters after a seminar held at a hotel, government’s committee member Rustam Mohmand said that meeting between two committee is not going to be held on Wednesday, both sides would meet on Thursday (today) instead.
He said dialogue process was complicated and both sides would face difficulties in this regard.
Shah said if guarantee of protection was provided, Taliban leadership could hold talks directly with the government.
He said the dialogue process would move forward within the constitutional parameters.
Shah said first priority of government is to maintain ceasefire while Taliban leadership also agreed to it.
He said that some Taliban opponents wanted to sabotage the peace process.
Shah said the Taliban had condemned and disassociated themselves from the recent terrorist attacks.
He said the implementation of sharia was not part of the dialogue and the Taliban had agreed to a ceasefire. Shah also said that dialogue would only be held with the TTP and no other group.
Separately, a member of the TTP nominated body, Professor Ibrahim, told a private TV channel that the government committee has not replied to the demand of scheduling a meeting with the army chief and the ISI DG. However, he said the Taliban committee was satisfied with the development.
Meanwhile, another member of Taliban committee, Samiul Haq, told a private TV channel that the demands of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were placed in front of the government’s committee.
Sami said that the Peshawar bombings were a conspiracy to sabotage peace process. He also called a gathering of clerics from all sects on February 15 in Lahore to create consensus over dialogue process.
