Army top brass discusses Taliban peace talks

The corps commanders held a meeting at the Army General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Monday under the leadership of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif and reviewed various security matters, including government’s on-going talks with Taliban.

Source said the army leadership discussed country’s internal security situation along with professional matters pertaining to the armed forces.

At the routine meeting in GHQ, the corps commanders discussed the dialogue process with militant groups, the security situation at Pak-Afghan border.

Sources said that military leadership was given a special briefing on situation at the Line of Control (LoC) and internal security matters.
