Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Secretary Information Qamar Zaman Kaira on Sunday raised question over the patriotism of the members of the government’s committee engaged in peace talks with the terrorist outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Talking to reporters after consoling the death of a party worker’s mother in Hafizabad, Kaira said that anti-democracy elements like Major Aamir having suspicious track record were included in the committee which spoiled purpose of the talks before initiation.
He said the TTP wanted to enforce Mullah Umar’s sharia in the country.
The PPP leader expressed concerns over the future of peace talks, as PTI Chairman Imran Khan, JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman and Lal Masjid cleric Abdul Aziz have already distanced themselves from the talks.
Kaira said that despite having reservations over the committee, his party was extending all-out support to the government to curb terrorism.
He alleged that some members of the PML-N have contacts with terrorist outfits. Kaira said the rulers came into power making tall claims, pledges and slogans of resolving the problems faced by people, including inflation, unemployment and poverty, but badly failed.
