At least 700 police officials have not received salary for the last two months due to lethargy of the accounts section officials of the Accountant General Punjab.
A private TV channel reported on Sunday that 700 cops of Punjab Police belonging to Mujahid and Flying Squads deployed for security of politicians and government officials have been deprived of salary for the last two months.
Earlier, the cops used to receive salaries in cash from the Police Department, but later they were asked to open bank accounts. They opened the accounts and submitted details in the CPO and Accountant General Punjab offices, but their salaries have not been transferred for the last two months.
The officials said that the issue has not been resolved despite several visits to the District Police Line, CCPO and AG offices. They demanded that the Punjab government and police high-ups take notice and issue directives in this regard.
