Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) Saturday organised district level competition of national songs and poetry under ongoing Punjab Youth Festival (PYF).
PYF District Convenor Sardar Naseem, Member National Assembly Tahira Aurangzeb, Member Punjab Assembly Raja Muhammad Hanif and RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed were present on the occasion.
The competition was also attended by position holders of Tehsils Rawalpindi, Gujar Khan, Kahuta, Kallar Sydan, Taxila, Murree and Kotli Sattian.
In the category of national songs, Jahangir Niazi from Rawalpindi secured first position, Irum Abbasi from Murree got second position while Moazzam Ali from Gujar Khan remained at third position. Similarly, in poetry Atiq-ul-Rehman from Kahuta secured first position, Muhammad Waheed from Rawalpindi got second position and Ishfaq Abbasi from Murree bagged third position.
Speaking on the occasion, MNA Tahira Aurangzeb said it was appreciable that females were also participating in PYF enthusiastically. She added that Punjab chief minister had love for youth and had included them in progress of the Punjab.
Raja Muhammad Hanif said that talented youth were obtaining positions on their abilities. Divisional level competitions will be held on February 17 at RAC.
