Of China, culture, cooperation and commitment

Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong has disclosed that the second round of Joint Cooperation Committee Meeting would soon be held in Beijing to take the strategic relationship between China and Pakistan to a new level of mutual cooperation and economic development.

The envoy expressed these views while addressing the audience at the performance by a cultural troupe from Kashghar, Xinjiang, China, which enthralled an august audience at the Chinese Embassy Auditorium with their exquisite performance to mark the festivities of the Chinese New Year upon the arrival of Spring Season. It was however two Chinese artists who stole the show by singing patriotic songs in Urdu language.

Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rahman, Pakistan Muslim League-N Secretary General Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmed and other senior government official also graced the occasion.

Advisor to Prime Minister on National Security & Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz who was the chief guest, while addressing the audience, hailed the new dimensions of the fast growing and expanding bilateral cooperation between China and Pakistan governments in economic field, stating that the level of bilateral cooperation between both friendly neighbouring states was “unprecedented” and “unparalleled” in the South Asia.

“The Chinese investments in a large number of new projects in Pakistan will usher into a new era of cooperation and regional development. The cooperation, especially in the field of energy, is unparalleled and unprecedented. The Chinese support is remarkable and it will not only help a lot in the development and progress of the people of Pakistan but also will result in the regional development and prosperity,” he added.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Sun Weidong also referred to the regional cooperation in the field of energy and other sector.

“In the past year, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the idea of building a Silk Road Economic Belt, to link up Central Asia, South Asia and the Middle East countries located along the ancient Silk Road and strengthen regional cooperation. China is seeking to enhance policy communication, road connectivity, unimpeded trade, monetary circulation, and understanding between the people in the whole region,” he added.

He hoped that the strategic Silk Road Economic Belt and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor were naturally interlinked and mutually reinforced. “To realize these proposals will make billions of peoples’ dream come true.”

Terming year 2013 a year of development and harvest for China-Pakistan relations, the ambassador said that bilateral trade will further be boosted. “Pakistan is now China’s biggest Foreign Direct Investment destination country in South Asia. The planning and construction of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has achieved remarkable progress in the fields of energy development and transportation infrastructure,” he added.

He said that Kashgar is a shining pearl on the Silk Road. “It is the window and a pioneer for the westward opening-up strategy of Xinjiang. It is also the starting point of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.”

He added that solid progress would be made in bilateral cooperation in areas like defence, science and technology, and people-to-people contacts.

The performance included Tambourine Dance Yearn which is one of the key percussion in Uygur, a clear, bright sound and full of flowing rhythm. The audience much appreciated the performance of ‘Male Solo beautiful Pakistan and Fall in Love’ during which two classic songs which praise beautiful Pakistan and the diligent, wise people were presented.

The famous star Maimai Timing sang in fluent Urdu symbolising the unbreakable and time-honoured friendship between the people of China and Pakistan.

Female group dance side of KashgarRiver through its delicate, elegant and graceful dance, expressed the aspirations of love life and longing for a better future among all ethnic people in Kashgar.

Rubab which is one of the typical Uygur musical instruments was played by a Chinese artist with bright tone, wide range and high performance technology.

Group dance ‘Daolang’ has become a symbol of arts and culture in Kashgar area. Through the unique rough, beautiful performances, Daolang dance presents people active participation during the period of Great Construction, Great Gevelopment and Great Prosperity.

Folk Music Duet Spring to KunlunMountain, friendship and joyous fully expressed people’s feeling of elegant art.

Classical music duet exhibited a better perception of the extraordinary ability of music, across the time and space, across the national boundaries.

The dance ‘the Happiness of Harvest’ vividly showed the celebration of rural harvest, full of humor, dynamic and joyous.

Two classic Pakistani female solo songs expressed the people’s strong feeling of loving their motherland and loving their hometown in Pakistan. Group dance Ana, Pamir represented the Tajik nation, as the nation of Eagle, live in more than 5,000 meters Pamirs.

They defeat the highland cold, love life, longing for happiness, and with the pursuit of a better future. Pamirs belongs to their hometown, which is also the common hometown of Chinese nation.

Aijieke Solo ‘The Spring of Xinjiang’ is a distinctive, rhythm bright instrumental solo tracks. At present, during the leap-forward development in Kashgar and the spring time of China, it brought a meaningful feeling.
