Altaf thanks traders, transporters for observing day of mourning

Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain has paid tribute to the people of Pakistan, particularly the people of Sindh, for observing a day of mourning over the alleged extra-judicial killing of MQM worker Salman Nooruddin.

In a statement issued Saturday, Altaf demanded authorities to hold a judicial inquiry into the extra-judicial killing of Salman Nooruddin and other workers of the MQM.

The MQM supremo claimed that he had personally telephoned Sindh chief minister, Rangers DG and other high-ranking officials to inform them about the details of the tragic killing of Salman Nooruddin but no one cared to respond.

Altaf thanked business community, transporters, petrol pump and CNG station owners and other people belonging to various walks of life for voluntarily suspending their activities on the extra-judicial killing of Salman and other workers of the MQM. He praised them for registering their strong protest in a peaceful manner.

Earlier, MQM coordination committee asked traders and transporters to resume their activities from 2 PM.

On Saturday morning, a complete shutdown was witnessed in Karachi as the MQM observed a day of mourning against the alleged extra judicial killing of party workers.
