Former interior minister Rehman Malik on Friday said the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) should be removed from the list of outlawed groups in order to make negotiations successful.
Interacting with reporters outside the Parliament House, Malik said that the Taliban should halt attacks and include their representatives in talks.
He said that troubled areas should be determined first on the issue of talks.
“If Taliban announce ceasefire, their name should be removed from banned groups to complete the first phase of talks,” he opined.
There is no use of talking of Mullah Fazlullah alone. Other groups can also sabotage the negotiations.”
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is sincere, but the outcome of talks should not be like Malakand and Swat.
To a question, he said that Pervez Musharraf’s matter should be left to courts to decide. He, however, advised the former president to appear before the court for his own good.
He said the PTI and JUI-F made the right decision to distance themselves from the dialogue process.
