Sartaj Aziz to be honoured as chief guest at RPI conference

Regional Peace Institute (RPI) is organising a conference in Islamabad on February 9 under the umbrella theme of “China, Pakistan and Afghanistan: Regional Dynamics, Future Prospects”. In addition to representatives of other think-tanks, professionals and academics, the conference will also be attended by a delegation of the Chinese People’s Association for Peace and Disarmament (CPAPD) – a leading think-tank of China.

The two sub-themes of the Conference will be “US Drawdown 2014: Regional Perspectives” and “Prospects of Pakistan-China Collaboration in Afghanistan”.

Sartaj Aziz, Advisor on Foreign Affairs and National Security, Government of Pakistan will be the Chief Guest.

Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri, former Foreign Minister of Pakistan, is the Chairperson of the RPI and General (R) Ehsan ul Haq, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee is the Co-Chairperson. Mr. Raoof Hasan, a known political analyst and writer, is the Executive Director of the Institute.

Shamshad Ahmad, former Secretary, Foreign Office, Mr. Aziz Ahmad Khan, former High Commissioner and Ambassador, Lt. Gen. (R) Asad Durrani, former DG, ISI, Senator Mushahid Hussain and Lt. Gen. (R) Talat Masood are among the keynote speakers.

The Conference will conclude with the signing of a Memorandum of Collaboration between the RPI and the CPAPD covering a host of fields that require joint and collaborative efforts by China and Pakistan.
