The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has announced to observe a day of mourning on Saturday (today), what it blamed against extra-judicial killings of its workers.
This was announced by MQM leader Haider Abbas Rivzi while addressing a press conference at Nine Zero (90) on Friday.
Rizvi appealed to traders and transporters to shut their business tomorrow.
The MQM leader said extra-judicial killing of party workers was being carried out. He said there was no information of 45 missing activists, adding he did not know whether missing workers were alive or in the custody of law enforcement agencies.
He also said Muhammad Suleman and his nephew were arrested by police from Korangi Crossing on February 3. He said according to post-mortem report of Suleman he was brutally tortured.
He also demanded human rights groups to take notice of the extra-judicial killings of MQM activists.
On the occasion, MQM leader Nasreen Jalil said Karachi police chief Shahid Hayat should also be nominated in the FIR of party activist’s killing.
As many as four more dengue viral fever cases were reported in Karachi on Saturday increasing the patients toll to 109 in 2014, said Focal Person for Dengue Surveillance Cell Dr Shakeel Aamir Mullick.
