Heavy rains had lashed the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad early morning on Thursday, and water had accumulated at various areas especially near the Airport Road, where three feet of water had pooled at the Gulzar e Quaid Chowk a few yards from the Islamabad Expressway.
Traffic was blocked at the venue and most vehicles opted for an alternate route via the Fizaia Colony.
On the other hand, the Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB) failed to clear Tipu Road, Chaklala Scheme-I, II and III, Jhanda Chichi, Lalazar Colony and other areas, and local residents and shopkeepers were seen trying to remove obstacles from the sewerage system.
