Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has directed pharmaceutical distributors to supply drugs through air conditioned vans till March 30 so as to ensure their storage conditions.
These directions were made in a meeting of pharmaceutical distributors of multinational and leading local pharmaceutical manufacturers operating in Islamabad held in the office of the Secretary, Quality Control Board Islamabad/ Drug Inspector, Islamabad, Sardar Shabbir Ahmed.
The participants of the meeting discussed in detail various issues relating to the implementation of the ICT Drug Rules, 2013. The distributors were apprised of the new requirements under the newly notified drug rules. They were directed to ensure proper storage conditions of the drugs being distributed by them so as to maintain the quality of drugs.
The appointment of full time graduate pharmacist by the distributors who were operating with pharmacy assistant was also discussed. A deadline of 30 days was given to such distributors for appointment of Cat-A pharmacist in line with the legal requirement under the new rules.
Maintaining of data of the licensed chemists and supply of drugs to only license premises was also discussed and decided to ensure compliance of rules.
All the distributors were agreed to lay maximum emphasis to this issue and ensure that no drug is supplied to any premises operating without license or in-valid license. Existence of such premises, if any, will also be brought to the notice of the drug inspector for action under the law.
