KABUL-

The Afghan Taliban have released a footage featuring a dog that they claim to have captured spying for US troops during fighting in eastern Afghanistan last December.

In the video, the dog ‘Colonel’ was paraded by a militant holding his leash.

The dog was captured during a night raid in Laghman in eastern Afghanistan in late December while wearing a harness with a GPS tracking device, a torch and a small camera, militants say.

US officials are probing the claim.

NATO forces have used sniffer and guard dogs in Afghanistan for raids.
