In connection with the Kashmir Solidarity Day, Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) organised various events including tableau, speech and Kashmiri songs competitions among school students and a photographic exhibition based on Indian Atrocities on Kashmiris here on Wednesday.
Chaudhry Sarfraz Afzal, Parliamentary Secretary for Sports, Youth Affairs, Tourism and Archaeology was the guest of honour who inaugurated the photographic exhibition along with Naheed Manzoor and Waqar Ahmed, Resident Director RAC. Senior poets and intellectuals Aftab Zia, Naseem-e-Saher and Iqbal Tabassum judged the competitions.
Afzal paid homage to the Kashmiri martyrs and highlighted the plight of Kashmiris. He said that Kashmir dispute held the key to durable peace in the South Asian region. “A sustainable resolution of the problem will only be possible if the aspirations of the Kashmiris are taken into account,” he said.
Naheed Manzoor said also highlighted the inability of the United Nations to implement its own resolution of 1948 on the issue of Kashmir despite acknowledging the Kashmir as a disputed area.
At the end of the events, Waqar Ahmed thanked the chief guest and office bearers of All Pakistan Private School Management Association for extending full cooperation in organizing of the event.
