Four people killed, ASWJ leader injured in separate incidents in city

At least four people including a woman and her son were killed while a leader of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) was injured in separate incidents of violence in the city on Wednesday.

According to police, a woman and her son were found dead in a flat situated in Gulzar Hijri.

Earlier, a dead body of an unidentified man was recovered from MalirRiver.

Meanwhile, a robber was killed while his accomplices managed to flee after exchange of fire with police. The police came across a gang of robbers in Sector 11-E of North Karachi and exchange of fire took place.

One robber identified as Javed who injured in the fire exchange expired on way to hospital while his other cohorts escaped from the scene.

Separately, the ASWJ Malir President Mohyuddin Shah was injured in a firing incident in Landhi area.

Unidentified men opened fire at the ASWJ leader and managed to flee after the incident. Shah was taken to a local hospital for medical assistance.

Attacks on the ASWJ have increased in recent months.

On the other hand, Rangers conducted search operation in Frontier Colony of the city and arrested nine suspects.

The Rangers also recovered weapons from them.

TWO TERRORISTS NABBED:

Intelligence agencies on Wednesday raided a house and arrested two terrorists of a banned organization and recovered huge amount of explosive material along with arms.

The agencies recovered two sacks filled with RDX explosive material and huge quantity besides suicide jackets and Kalashnikovs after arresting two alleged terrorists of a banned outfit from ‘Khuda Ki Basti’ area of SarjaniTown in Karachi.

Later, the bomb disposable squad moved the explosives and defuse it. Arrested suspects were shifted to undisclosed location for investigation.
