Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani on Monday said that protection of minorities’ rights is the core responsibility of the State.
The CJP expressed these views while hearing case of Peshawar church blast. During hearing, report on Peshawar church blast case was also presented before the court.
The court was apprised that investigations were underway against the criminals involved in the church blast and would soon reach a conclusion.
Justice Jillani said the Constitution provides rights to minorities but they are not being protected.
The apex court sought clarification regarding the minorities’ rights from Ministry of Religious Affairs till February10.
