The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed reply in the accountability court (AC) Islamabad regarding former president Asif Ali Zardari’s application in connection with his acquittal and opposed his acquittal.
The accountability court gave Zardari time until February 24 to review the reply filed by NAB.
As per media reports, Judge Muhammad Bashir heard SGS, COTECNA, ARY Gold, Ursus Tractors and pologround references against Zardari. A detailed reply was filed by NAB with reference to application for acquittal in respect of Asif Ali Zardari during the course of hearing of the references.
NAB said concrete evidence was available against Zardari and the application with regard to his acquittal could not be decided before his indictment.
Farooq H Naek, Zardari’s counsel, said time should be given to review the detailed reply of NAB. The court granting time adjourned the hearing of the five references until February 24.
Later, talking to reporters, Naek said NAB has taken the plea that new evidence will be presented in respect of application for acquittal of Zardari.
