Accountability court: NAB counsel claims strong graft evidence against Zardari

ISLAMABAD-

The Accountability court hearing corruption references against former president Asif Ali Zardari held a hearing on Monday, a private news channel reported.
The National Accountability Bureau counsel appeared before the court bench headed by Muhammad Bashir and filed a detailed response over Zardari’s plea for acquittal.
The counsel argued that the former president could not be acquitted as testimonies against him are yet to be recorded.
He claimed that ‘solid proofs’ of corruption have been found against Zardari.
Zardari’s lawyer Farooq H. Naik had pleaded before the court to acquit the former president in all five corruption references filed against him as no concrete evidence has not been found nor there were any witnesses.
The court had granted permanent exemption to Zardari from personal appearance in court hearings.
The court was adjourned till February 24.
