The Millennial Olympiad 2014 kicked-off with a bang at RootsMillenniumSchools, I-9/3 Millennium Campus, Islamabad today. A four day mega event was inaugurated sponsoring several competitions and 1500 plus Participants from over 100 schools and 10 Cities taking part in many exciting competitions which include; Live Art, Debating, Dramatics, Chess, Gaming, Table Tennis, Wall Climbing, Photo Essay, Fashion, Film Making, Singing, Law Moot Court, Creative Writing and dance. The Millennium Olympiad is an initiative of the ambitious and enthusiastic students of RootsMillenniumSchools, Millennium Campus, I-9/3, Islamabad. It is a platform on which participant students from across country have registered and the platform allowed them to prove their mettle within various domains of co and extracurricular activities.

The opening ceremony was presided over by His Excellency Jesper Moller Sorensen Ambassador of the Royal Danish Embassy in Islamabad and AnnaFaisalDirectorRootsMillenniumSchools. The ceremony marked the pledge by charged speakers that the aim of the Millennium Olympiad is to inspire youth to help shape a world based on justice, solidarity, liberty, dignity, harmony and prosperity for all.

His Excellency Jesper Moller Sorensen during his address appreciated the initiative of the students and encouraged the youth of Pakistan to become the agents of change through engagement in student initiatives on national and international forums.

The ceremony included words of encouragement by CEO RMS Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq TI, who emphasized on the need of student engagement in extracurricular activities as a means of holistic development of students into educated and intellectually developed individuals and professionals. He also acknowledged the generous contribution and support of the event sponsors, Summit Bank, PTCL, Wi tribe, Zong , and Ufone.

The competitions were followed by an evening of entertainment and music for the participants. This included a theme night on the unique tittle “Night in Paris” formal dinner as well as a Fashion show on the western & Eastern theme. The event was judged by some of the most renowned fashion names in the fashion industry of Pakistan. Participants also dressed in costumes representative of the eastern & western theme and participated in a ramp walk.

The fashion show was followed by a formal dinner highly appreciated by the students. Costumes were donned by all participants, who also walked the ramp to entertain the over 500 students attending the event. The DJ added spark to the night with his choice of entertaining music. The Millennium Olympiad is everything you need in terms of an event that is entertaining and engaging event for students’ said a faculty advisor accompanying students from another institution. ‘The standard of the Law Moot Court exceeded expectations. I was amazed to see how critically students analyze situations and pick our facts even the most practiced lawyers would over look’ stated the judge of the Mock Trial. An undefeated team of students claimed that the gaming competition comprised the most cutthroat matches in Islamabad’ The Fashion judges as well as the onlookers present at the fashion show expressed amazement at the highly developed aesthetical skills of the participating students. ‘They are all such quick learners and have such developed self-confidence, it is an absolute delight to shoot them’ said the fashion photographer capturing images of the fashion show.
