President calls upon the ‘Islamic world’ to stand by Pakistan
President Mamnoon Hussain has called upon the “Islamic world” to support and stand by Pakistan in meeting the challenges.
Addressing the 9th Convocation of International Islamic University (IIU) in Islamabad‚ he said Pakistan is an important country of “Islamic world” and support from them towards addressing the country’s problems will bear a great significance.
He stressed that unity amongst the Muslims is need of the hour in view of the multiple challenges faced. Greater collaboration among them will raise their standing in the comity of nations.
He said Pakistan is undertaking an economic corridor project with the cooperation of China which will bring a great change in the region. About relations with Saudi Arabia‚ the president said he desires for further strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries.
Referring to the challenges faced by the country‚ Hussain urged the graduating students to realise their responsibilities in overcoming them.
The president said education is the foremost priority of the government and it will provide every possible financial support to the educational institutions.
Speaking on the occasion‚ IIU President Dr Ahmad Yousif A Al-Draiweesh‚ unveiled the future programs of the university.
The president conferred honoury degrees of PHD in politics and international relations upon the Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz.
The doctorate degree was received by IIU Pro Chancellor Sulaiman Ibn Abdullah Aba Al Khail on behalf of the Saudi King.
The pro-chancellor presented Ghilaf-e-Kaaba and a copy of Holy Quran to the president.
Earlier‚ the president conferred degrees on the graduating students and handed over gold medals to the outstanding students.
