Three killed, 100 arrested in Karachi LAE raids

The Rangers and Police have stepped up crackdown against criminals in Karachi and killed three accused in encounters on Saturday.

The Rangers and Police on a cue conducted raid in Baghdadi area of Lyari in late Friday night and killed an accused in exchange of fire, sources said.

The accused identified as Sameer Baloch said to be linked with the gang-war in Lyari.

In another encounter, police killed a dacoit at Super Highway near Sohrab Goth.

The two accomplices of the slain accused managed to escape from the scene.

An outlaw identified as Siddique commando, was killed in a shootout near Landhi Labor Square. Grenades and other ammunition found from his possession. The accused was said to be involved in murder and kidnapping for ransom.

ARRESTS:

Paramilitary Rangers on Saturday morning in a search operation in Sohrab Goth arrested around 100 suspects, a private news channel reported.

A large contingent of Rangers, on an intelligence report about presence of wanted criminals, cordoned off Sohrab Goth and launched house to house search near Malik Agha Hotel.

Paramilitary personnel detained several suspects in the search operation for interrogation.

The law enforcement personnel sealed the area and initiated their search for wanted criminals. The markets of the area remain closed during the operation.

GRENADE ATTACK:

A policeman sustained injuries in a hand grenade attack on Pirabad police station of the city.

According to the police, unidentified miscreants threw the grenade from a bridge and fled.

The injured policeman was shifted to hospital.
