To overcome losses worth millions of rupees per month, the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) on Saturday disconnected power supply of PTI lawmaker Shah Farman’s constituency in Peshawar.
Carrying out its disconnection and recovery campaign, PESCO officials disconnected the power supply of 590 illegal connections.
Officials also lodged FIRs against direct power connections. After State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali’s visit to Peshawar, defaulters have been warned to pay their dues, otherwise, electricity will not be restored and legal action will be initiated against them.
PESCO spokesman said line losses in these areas were over 90 percent, adding that due to illegal use of electricity in these areas, transformers overload and crash, causing frequent power breakdowns.
Officials said defaulters in the constituency have to pay Rs 2 crore and 89 lac, but they did not pay a single penny.
Word war is continued between Abid Sher Ali and PTI leader Shah Farman over the issue.
