Timber mafia play havoc in Murree forests, Forest Deptt officials watch
The timber mafia is active in cutting old and precious trees in forests around Murree but the concerned officials of Forest Department are playing the role of silent spectators.
The cutting of trees from the forests is not only ruining the natural beauty of the famous tourist destination but also badly affecting the environment.
When contacted, District Forest Officer (DFO) Murree Farooq Khan said that illegal cutting of trees has ended in his era. He said that the department should be informed if someone was damaging the natural environment, adding that they would take strict action against those found involved in illegally cutting the trees.
The social circles of the area demanded of Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif to immediately take steps to stop the illegal practice of cutting trees.
